The fifth chakra, also called the throat chakra, is energized by the color blue.

Stone: Amazonite

Description: Amazonite, pronounced like the Amazon river where it was found, is a rare kind of feldspar.  Prized in cultures around the world, from Egypt to Peru, amazonite is at once, peaceful and energizing.  Inside the soothing turquoise color, the stone packs a surprise. Amazonite is formed by layers upon layers of minerals, each layer catching the light in a different way.  The effect is a shimmer of light just beneath the surface known as schiller.  I like the soft rectangle shape, and the ocean blue color is irresistible. 

Chakra information:  The fifth chakra, also called the throat chakra, is focused on communication.  It is about knowing your truth and then expressing it.  This highly creative area of our personalities focuses on the artist within.  Dancing, singing, painting, writing, etc. are ways in which we express our perceptions of the world to others.  Passion is the deepest desire to communicate; art is the purest form of that communication.  The importance of honesty in this communication can not be overlooked.  A friend who is true blue means someone you can believe.  Did you know that politicians often wear blue to inspire trust?  Behavior that would point to an imbalance in this area might cause us to stumble over our words if we're not telling the truth.  Spreading rumors that hurt others or being too shy to speak your truth are also signs of imbalance in the throat chakra.
