GIVING THANKS

Posted by Donna Cook on

Thanksgiving from the heart chakra. While we associate Thanksgiving with feasting, merriment and family, the spirit of Thanksgiving comes from the heart.   It is a commemoration of the kindness of Native Americans, who shared their knowledge of living off the land, sharing their food and survival skills with the starving white skinned people so woefully inept at living in nature. As we celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday, we need to remember that it is not what we eat, but the gratitude of having enough to eat, the humility of realizing how fortunate we are and the love for humanity, not just our families...

A Halloween Stone

Posted by Donna Cook on

Dragon Blood Jasper The story behind Dragon Blood Jasper is one of the most interesting I've come across and perfect for Halloween.  The stone, which has a mossy yellow green background is shot with veins of deep red.  It is thought that the stone is the fossilized remains of ancient dragons.  The green is the skin of the beast, while the red veins are the blood. ie, Orbicular Jasper   This amazing stone from Mother Earth reminds me of microbes one might see under a microscope.  It is a kind of jasper and agate mix that displays a unique pattern of colored circles and dots that appear to float across a deep green background. As you can see in the photos, it's very organic and alive looking.   Found only along the northwest shoreline of Madagascar, the mine has been exhausted as of this writing.  Although other locations have been explored, another source for this fabulous material has not been found.  Named for the bubbling surf that washes against the...

THE MANY COLORS OF JASPER

Posted by Donna Cook on

JASPER FOR FALL   As fall peeks around the corner, nature gives it her all before the frost. Leaves of green become bright red, orange and yellow, and while the spring and summer flowers have begun to fade, fall colors come with the bountiful harvest.  In celebration of Mother Nature's brilliant show of force, I've put together a group of JASPERS for fall that specifically energize the first, second and third chakras.  These chakras are represented by red, orange and yellow and play to our sense of belonging to the earth, allowing pleasure into our lives and feeling confident and self directed in our...
